A new Church School… in Barnet?
There is a growing schooling crisis in High Barnet! It is estimated that 30 children could not be found primary school places in our area last year and with a growing population the situation is only going to get worse! Furthermore the existing C of E schools that serve our community face a demand that far exceeds the places they can offer.
In light of this the Chipping Barnet Team Ministry is exploring opening a Church of England Primary School which would be able to offer 60 extra places each year; some places for parish children and some for those from the local community of all faiths and none.
The proposed school would be opened as a 'Free School' (wikipedia.org), using the traditional Church of England model of community based school and guided by the pastoral ethos of the Christian faith. It would share in the backing, guidance and resources of the Church of England, the longest serving educator in the country and would be directly supported by the Diocese of St Albans.
The school would be dedicated to offering the highest standards of education, encouraging its pupils to grow as rounded members of the wider community, nurturing their spiritual and philosophical needs as well as educational.
To do this we need to apply to the Department of Education for approval to open a Free School for which we need the support of local parents. To this end we need parents with children who will be starting school in or after 2017 (under 3’s) to sign the petition below to say that they would support the opening of a new school. (This does not involve a commitment on their part to applying for the school when it opens; it will just show that there is the support in the area for the application.)
This exiting project needs your support!
If you are are a parent with a child or children starting school in or after 2017, this school could be perfect for your child... please could you give a couple of minutes to answer our
survey.
THANK YOU!
